Call Her Mom
My writing group theme this week related to Mother's Day. This is a reflection of a mother's journey and the emotions along the way, added an ending stanza.
Call Her Mom
Lovingly cradling you in her arms, she became Mom
With tender caresses and whispers of sweet words
Heart overflowing with joy and love
You call her Mom
Your first steps accompanied by
Bumps, bruises, and scratches
All healed with a kiss and a warm hug
You call her Mom
In times of illness, she offered loving care
Holding little hands, giving comfort along the way
Singing soft lullabies, as you drifted out to sleep
You call her Mom
Through every milestone in life’s journey
The successes, achievements, and disappointments
Cheering you on, always ready to console and encourage
Your call her Mom
Letting little bird fly on its own
Quiet gentle tears might have fallen
Her doors and heart will always be open
You call her Mom
She delights in the person you’ve become
Proud of the milestones you’ve achieved
A loving friend, also now known as Grammie
You still call her Mom
She held your hand through all the years
Now the time has come to hold hers
As she begins her heavenly journey
You whisper softly one last time, Mom
